Gingerbread – Helping single parent families.

I’ve been continuing my search for useful websites for single parents and have found one called Gingerbread, who state that they “provide expert advice, practical support and campaign for single parents”.

They campaign on behalf of single parents and also have an active forum to chat to other single parents about all sorts of topics. The site is clean, crisp and well laid-out, with the menu making it easy to navigate the site and find the information you’re looking for.

Gingerbread require volunteers who want to help other single parent families whilst learning new skills and gain valuable experience. They also sometimes require paid staff, so worth checking out if you’re looking for a job too!

    Just a single dad have 3 kids. I am 36 divorced i work full time for the NHS in admin. have 1 of my children live with me and am finding it hard to find that someone special. i just looking for some good advice . on where to go local to me to meet new people (as local pubs just are full of younger people or are full of couples.) i live in Thamesmead SE London. have been single 7 months now and just asking for some help.

      Hi Michael,

      Thank you for getting in touch, I’m sorry to hear that you’re finding it hard to find ways of meeting someone special. The tips I would give to anyone in this situation are:

      • First and foremost I’d encourage you to sign up as a member on our site, if you’re not already. (Click here to join Single Parent Dating UK). You can meet many great people in a similar position to yourself and you’d be surprised – there’s probably someone just like you living around the corner.
      • Secondly, don’t be surprised if the local pubs aren’t quite the way you think – there’s probably more single people there than you realise. Visit them at a different time of day or day of the week and you may find that the mix of people in there is quite different.
      • Finally, there’s a great website called http://www.Smugly.co.uk (Social Meet-Up Groups Like Yours) which lists groups, societies and events in your local area. Click here to see what’s occurring in Thamesmead.
